Clutch discs ordered

Ordered the clutch parts.  Once installed I can put the engine back in.

We have an antique show coming up next week.  Still had to make 2 more show walls.

These are the last 2 walls I needed to make.    

F5000 Monterey entry list. A work in progress.

Working from a couple of different sources, this is the start of the list for Monterey.  49 cars.  Still four months away, I'm sure it will change a little.

Shift linkage completed

All the repairs consisted of turning sleeves on a lath.  This should make a big difference in shifting the gearbox.

This sleeve was a little trickier, had to make it oblong to fit.

The sleeve on the top I purchased at Lowe's store.  The one on the bottom is the end result turned on the lath.

And that sleeve will go into the hole just to the lower right.

April Fool's

Winter just won't leave.  Seems like a bad April Fool's joke.

However progress was made the other day.  The engine bay is done.

Driver harnesses for 2015

Removed the old driver harness(expired) and looking at replacements.

Engine bay cleaning

De-greasing and polishing the engine bay.  In a couple of weeks I'll order the new clutch parts and install the engine.

Shift Linkage

The gearbox shift linkage is showing its age.  I'll have to make some bushings to insert in the two places the linkage connects.  The other bolt hole is not as bad as this one.  I could move the shifter about 1 inch and have no movement back at the gear box.  

What to do on a snowy day

Clean the shop and get back to work.

Tire test

Decided to paint a couple of letters and wait about a month just to make sure the paint sticks.  The AVON'S had not problem, the Goodyear's should be similar.

Back to Goodyear painting

The painted lettering on the Goodyear tires needed to be redone.  A low priority project.

I'm trying to somewhat reproduce the lettering.  I think Goodyear would over spray the raised outline of the letter and then would use sandpaper to remove the paint on it. (see below)

The one thing I forgot on the last tires(AVON) I lettered was they should have appeared as if they had been spray painted with a stencil.  On this set I will add that line to the letters that need it. 

Dusting off the Goodyears

Been thinking about racing this year and have come up with setting my goal on the race in California.  It's actually two events in two weekends, so it's preparing for both ahead of time.  This will give me till August to ready the car.  For now, that's the plan.

I've been saving these tires for a special event. Couple of years old but only used sparingly at Watkins Glen in 2102.  Removing the painted "EAGLE" lettering,  Not used in the 1970's.

Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion... Entry Approved!

I checked the progress of my entry for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion yesterday and noted I moved from "pending" to "approved".  That's good. At least I now know it's another option for this year.

Winter continues into March

Another 3-5 inchs of snow for today.
Haven't heard from the F5000 group, all is quite.  One of these days I'll get back out to the shop and clean it up.  It really does need it.

MId-winter update

Decided to wait for warmer weather.  It's been just to cold to work on the car.  I have a good idea what needs to be done.  It shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks to complete.
We have a antique show coming up this weekend and I've been working on that for the last couple of weeks.
