A-arm wrap up

I reinstalled the suspension pieces and have determined that this occurred at Road America in 2013.  We made a wheel base adjustment that shortened the left side and caused the A-arm to lift and make contact with the shaft.  I'll make the necessary adjustments when the car is reassembled in the spring.

This is the right side, remains clear of the shaft.

Haven't done this in a couple of years.  The airport that I keep my plane at has no taxiways.  The only way to get to the runway is to make a path. Hope to get in some winter flying.

Now I just have to wait for a nice day.

A-arm problem

Went looking for photos of the rear of the car.  I did find one that was taken when we loaded the car up for COTA last October.  The rubbing on the A-arm is apparent in the photo.  I think this problem might have been related to a chassis adjustment made at Road America back in 2013.  I'm going to place some of the suspension pieces back on the car and try to confirm the problem.

That's not good...

Noticed a little contact on the lower left rear A-arm.  It would appear the half shaft is the culprit. Now I have to determine how long this has been going on.  This wasn't happening the first few years I had the car.  Time to look at past photos.

Back to the race car

Got out to the shop yesterday and accomplished a little work on the car.
Removed the brake calipers for inspection and cleaning.

Still more to remove on the rear of the car, but getting there.

F5000 Drivers Association update

The car count for the Monterey Historic event is up to 47.  The last time Laguna Seca had even close to that many cars was in 1975, and that was the last time the F5000 cars ran at that track.  The F5000 group should expand on the 40th anniversary theme.

Eric's Can-Am Car

Spoke to Eric the other day.  The rebuilding of his Lola T190 is coming along and will be ready for this years events.  The March 73a is going a little slower.
But the big news is his addition to the collection. The 1965 "Hollywood Sports Car" McLaren  MK1. Beautiful car with great history.
