Starter Motor

The starter motor was among missing items when I purchased the car. Figured no big deal, it's a Chevy. Sent a email to the group(fellow Lola restorers)and the response was not good. Reinhold sent a photo of his starter(Lola T190) and the message, you better start looking, your not finding this at a store. And he was right, it uses a reduction gear and works off a smaller flywheel. Immediately I called Chuck Haines at Can-Am cars, yes he had one left. Phew, that was close. I think this is the first time it's been apart. Working on the rest of the missing parts list now. The first race comes in June at Mid-Ohio.

One down, three to go

As with everything else on the car, the more you do the faster you get. Should have all done by mid-March.

Gear box plate

I have always had the suspicion that the gearbox was never used on this car. The serial # was way to early for the year of the car. On the early Lola's they used a plate that attaches to the gearbox cover. When I placed the plate on the cover the studs where to short to attach the nuts. Will have to make up some new studs, no big deal.

A little more

Now have most of the right and left side done.

Wheels

All it takes is a lot of elbow grease. I'll tackle one a week. The centers where blue, found that Ford engine block paint to be the closest color "Old Ford Blue".

Windshield

Eric out on the West coast sent me a windshield off a Lola T192. Now I can send a very good example to the shop to copy and make a new one for me. Should be ready in 3 to 6 weeks.

And a little bit more.

A few more parts connected.

More right rear

Trying to stay ahead on parts I need, but it's going together with no big problems. As always, the left side will go together a lot quicker.

Right Rear

Continuing to attach suspension parts. This attaches to the lower A-arm, when I took it apart, both sides where really loose. Filing down washer to make it snug. Rubber donut with spacers, worked perfect.

Lola rims

Removed the other 3 tires from the rims. No scary problems where uncovered, that's good.

Axle Donuts

I got lucky on the pipe spacer I have to make. Ordered it from "Aircraft spruce", the insider diam. is just the right size. It will slide just over the bolt on the axle with no play. But as with everything else, I placed it on my lathe to cut the size I need, and the belt broke. The old "oh well", lots of other things that need attention while I wait for the new belt to arrive.

Chevy 302

Finally located a engine builder in my area. Drop it off a Coleman Racing Engines in CT. Jim the owner is a Chevy guy. In fact he built engines for Bill"Grumpy" Jenkins(drag racer). Guess I'll find out the good or not so good news soon on the cost.

Donunts

Received the new donuts, a bit lighter and about 1/2" inch narrower. I know they where smaller, but still designed for the 500hp range. I'll make spacers to take up the 1/2".

Rear Suspension

Laying out the rear suspension and making a list of hardware to order.
