Day 6 Pacific Ocean

Yesterday...
We made it!  Skipped the hotel and went straight to Pacific Ocean and dipped my toes it.
 The trip was a great experience and something on the bucket list to check off.
Now to the races.

Day 5 Auburn, CA

Yesterday spent most of the day traveling through Nevada.  More spectacular scenery.  Big change when we entered California.  Started to see tress again.

Day 4 Wendover, Ut

Yesterday was good traveling, Western Wyoming landscape was very interesting. As was Utah.

Day 3 Laramie, WY

We did not expect to be in make it to Wyoming yesterday.  But western Nebraska is pretty much  nothing but corn fields and hay bails.  No gas, no hotels.  The driving conditions yesterday were much better, no wind and the temp was low 80's.  Last night after passing through Cheyenne we reach a elevation of 8600 ft  The hotel is at 7300 ft.
The country side has changed a lot.  Starting to feel more desert.

Day 2 Ankeny, Iowa

Yesterday was hot and windy through Illinois and Iowa. We're about a 1/3rd of the way to California.  I could not drive anymore yesterday because I reached my max hours set by the USDOT.  I have to spend the next ten hours off.

Day 1 Maumee, Ohio

Left a little later than planned yesterday, but made up the lost time last night.  So back on schedule.  So far this is a very familiar route(RT 80).  The same we take to many antique auctions and malls and Road America.  Not much will change until we past Chicago.

Yikes!    The to do list seems to be getting longer than shorter.  Hope to get out of here around noon. We'll see.

Saturday is the day

Leaving Friday was the option, but Saturday got the unanimous vote.  That still gets us to Calif. Thursday or Friday.  Apparently Thursday they start to lineup outside the track.  They leave their trailers there and come back Friday morning to get into the track. So I see no rush to get to the track early Friday.

All the race car stuff is packed.  Not loading the tent and poles makes for a lot of empty space.

Finally got the car into the truck.  Today, I'll finish loading parts and supply's.  Looking to leave this Friday or Saturday.

The heat has slowed me down.  It was 110 in back of the truck today.

We'll still haven't got the car out of the shop yet. More to do with other little details taking up my time.  Should get it loaded up today.

Just maintenance

Nothing much to report.  Just been working on the truck.  Did install cruise control. That will come in handy on a long trip.

On Schedule

With the car now finished, I'm keeping on schedule.  Working on the truck and starting to pack tools and supplies.

Decals

Getting down to the nitty gritty.  Replacing the decals on the left lower panel of the car.  They seem to get a lot of abrasion.  The ones on the right are fine.
The plan is to have the car 100% ready to go by Thursday.  Then it's onto the truck.

Been meaning to change this one for the last couple of years.

Still working on all those little details.
