Engine update

Jim(engine guy) called the other day. Engine is 70% completed. I've ordered the Webers and manifold(they should look like this) and Jay(Weber guy)says it should be ready for shipping in 2 weeks. So maybe in 3 weeks it will be running on the dyno.

Helmet and wing

The rear wing's paint and polish is done, now just waiting for the decals. Using a old helmet of mine to test paint colors, the red is close but the blue is a bit more difficult to match.

Helmet, next on the list.

The last of the painting. Having a picture of the helmet in 1973, that Ed Justice, Jr. sent. Gives good detail, plus for the color, I have some stickers of the car from 1973. Really hoped I could do the design with the decals I all ready have. But they just won't go on evenly, so back to the paint. Just need some red and blue paint(still have lots of yellow).

Rainy week

Had to wait all week before I could apply the final coat of paint. Now wet sand and shoot the clear lacquer and wait for the decals, then done.

Now some goodies for the crew.

The "Justice Brothers" where always promoting. I've acquired a number of items, including old jackets with the large patch on the back from the 1970's.

Ed Justice Jr. scanned a article showing the crew standing around the race car with there team jackets on. So I had my graphic shop embroidered "Racing Team" on the back like the originals. I think the jacket came out real nice.

Paint

Have the first coat of paint on the wing. Waiting on the weather to apply the second coat. Ordered more decals for the wing.

Busy Week

It's been a busy week, unfortunately little had to do with the car. Talked to the engine builder, the heads are done, but still waiting on the pistons. This means Mid-Ohio in June is off the table, and in 3 weeks would be Road America. I think the focus now will be on Watkins Glen in September.

Set-Up

Now with the tires, I can start the suspension set-up. Toe, caster, camber, ride height, bump steer etc. I'll use the settings I recorded as I dismantled the car as a starting point. But as mentioned earlier, this car was a reassembled basket case, so who knows.

Tires Mounted

The rear tires just barely fitted on my tire machine, but no problem, mounted and there ready to go.

One step closer, now if I could just get the engine done.

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers day to all the Moms out there.

Decals

Using the old photos for placement of the decals. The Valvoline and Champion decals are reproduced from originals 1970's I have and the L&M is original. On another note, Goodyear called, and the tires will be shipped next week.

Nose support done

Polished , repaired and ready for installation.

Front nose and radiator support

The support attaches to the front of the tub, where it houses the radiator for the engine and supports the nose. A few repairs and then a good cleaning will make this usable again in short order.

Rear Wing

Stripped the paint and made a few repairs. No trace of any other color paint under the Yellow. I assume this wing was made by Zeke Justice the chief mechanic on the car.
